Hi from Vicky

Attached is the stilton-pear recipe that we had for dessert at the luncheon at Helens on Wednesday.  For those of you who didn't make, it was a good time, good food, good discussion.  Anyone for changing the name from Crazy Ladies to something else? Vicky

Crazy Ladies cancer awareness month

Dear Crazy Ladies, If you do nothing else this month, stop by Gold's Gym, up on Brydan and buy some raffle tickets to benefit breast cancer and a certain Crazy Lady of ours who recently went through the whole breast cancer shennanigans.  I won't name names, but her initials might be JG... I sewed a "lap" quilt, (size 63" x 70") which is on display at Golds, and raffle tickets are $1 apiece or 6 for $5.  What a bargain.  There are also baked goods (nothing says fundraiser like outrageously priced baked goods) all month.  Just stop in before your daily latte for a treat to enjoy with your coffee. The raffle and bake sale will go on all month and the drawing will be held November 1st.  This is for a great cause and our close friend who never denies help changing a flat tire (in less than 2 minutes, I've timed her...)  Thanks for supporting this cause, we hope no other crazies get breast cancer, but if so, we are a great group, and a wonderful support to each other.  Thanks!  Vicky Boubel
PS, Sorry if you get this twice, I'm having Leane forward this email since her email list is more complete than my own.

Fwd: Free 411

I thought you might find the following article from snopes.com interesting: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/nothing/free411.asp

Snopes reports this to be TRUE.

Now here is some info we can all use.

Google 411

Just leave it up to Google to come up with something like this!!!

Here's a number worth putting in your cell phone, or your home phone

speed dial:

1-800-goog411 (1-800-466-4411) This is an awesome service from Google,

and it's free -- great when you are on the road.

Don't waste your money on information calls for business numbers, and

don't waste your time manually dialing the number.

I am driving along in my car and I need to call the golf course and I

don't know the number.  I hit the speed dial for the Google information

number that I programmed into my phone system. The voice at the other

end says, "City &State."  I say, " Garland , Texas "  He says,

"Business Name or Type of Service."  I say, "Firewheel Golf Course."

He says, "Connecting" and Firewheel answers the phone. How great is

that?

This is nationwide and it is absolutely free!

Click on the link below and watch the short clip for a quick

demonstration.

Crazy camp recipes

To all those who made the crazy camp last week, what a lot of fun to see you all out there, Thanks!  It was really nice to have a few extra people to ride a pace line in the heat.  Anyway, I've attached the recipes for the salads at the Tuesday night barbeque.  Vicky

Hi Ladies, I did not hear from anyone and I did not ride Wednesday or Friday, so will assume no one else did either. I have added a new contact, Anita Magnuson to our list...rumor has it she bought  one of Julie's bikes and hopes to ride with us!

Wednesday, April 8, meet at boat launch by Grain Growers at noon, leave at 12:15 for a nice flat gentle ride to Asotin ball fields.

Friday, April 11, meet at boat launch by Grain Growers at noon, leave at 12:15. Ride destinatin decided at parking lot.

I did ride on Saturday and although it was a little cool starting out at 11:15, I soon warmed up and was able to shed my jacket....I wore knickers, jersey, smart wool crew socks and that seemed to be perfect for warmth.

Hope to see many of you out on the trail. Thanks. Leane

Hi, Ladies,
Thanks for responding to my survey, I have updated my email list and if I have forgotten anyone, I apologize...Vicky please forward this message to your list. The two people I did not hear from was that long legged Jennifer Coleman and that pistol packin' Camille (ha ha, sorry Camille)...I am assuming you want to go with what the group decides or that you both were off on some exotic tropical vacation and unavailable for comment.
There were equal votes for both Wednesday and Fridays. There were no votes for Tuesday, Saturday or Sunday. Monday got a couple votes and Thursday had the third most votes.

This is what I think we should do to offer the most flexibility to everyone:
Wednesdays meet at the usual spot at 12:00 and leave at 12:15. The Wednesday ride will be decided in advance (such as Tammany Creek, Evans Road, Asotin Creek, etc) and be a easy going casual ride.
Fridays meet at the usual spot at 12:00 and leave at 12:15. The Friday rides will be called "Freeform Friday" and the destination of the rides will be determined at the parking lot...this will be for riders wanting to challenge a hill, ride fast and furious, bike at a crawl, or ride to a restaurant and eat or whatever fits the MOOD at the lot on that day. This will be an unorganized and anything goes day.

So, how does this sound? The times of both the rides will always be at the same time, changing as the season/weather/temperatures change. I will send an announcement out every week. I think we should give this a try, maybe by offering two different days and two different styles we can get more riders to join in on the fun. Thanks again for your opinions and let me know what you think of this plan. Leane eldredge@tds.net

Dear Ladies, Since our "ridership" has been down for well over one year, I am sending out a survey to determine if another day of the week would be a better day to ride.

All summer there was seldom more than three or four people riding, and many times only two. When I talked  to some of our founding Crazy Lady members I learned that the rides were on Thursdays for a long time and then Fridays. I have only known the rides to be on Wednesdays.

My hope was that by changing the day of the week for possibly the ladies who work at a dentist/doctor/orthodontist/vision/school who may have Friday or Monday or Thursday off for example, may increase our numbers.

So, please drop your opinion about the preferred day of the week in the email box to Leane at eldredge@tds.net and we will see what comes in the "mail", make a decision based on what works best for all and start sending out announcements. The time of day that the rides occur will be based upon the weather/temperature/time of year, to have the best temps for an enjoyable ride.

The main thing is to keep this group rolling, enjoying the gift of gab while riding in a group for safety, fitness and camaraderie!

Thanks,

I will be awaiting your reply with your opinion!

Winefest

Dear Crazy ladies, It's that time of year, yes to bike, but also for St. Joseph's annual Wine Festival.  As I'm on the committee I get to sell tickets.  Yipee!  Anyway, it is a fun event, this year it is on Friday March 13th and Saturday March 14th.  The Friday event is the 38th Annual Five Tastes of Wine, from 7-11 PM.  Centerline will be the featured band (a reunion gig they did just for this event).  There is a two hour tasting from 7 to 9 PM of a wide selection of wines and microbrews with light appetizers.  You get a wineglass to keep,  tickets are $20 apiece.  The Saurday night event is the 10th Annual Connoisseurs' Wine Tasting and Auction from 6 to 10 PM.  This event features premium wines from around the region.  It is an open tasting (no limit to how many wines you want to taste), fine cuisine and dessert with Jazz music.  There is a silent auction at 6 PM, live auction at 8:15 including some lovely wines and travel items.  Tickets for Saturday are $40 apiece.  Bargains galore with tickets, if you want a couples ticket for Saturday, that costs $75, if you want to go both nights it is $50, couples both nights $100.  Unfortunately I am out of town this year, I ususally attend both nights and work the events.  Since I will leave town on March 8th, if you want tickets you can buy them from me until March 7th, otherwise you can buy tickets anytime from St. Joes foundation, 208-799-5416.  Thanks, Vicky Boubel 509-243-4424

Subject: Fwd: Hello!

I just wanted to send a short note and let you all know I appreciated the cards, emails, prayers, good thoughts, and favors.  I
miss everyone and look forward to this summer.  I may have to get a tandem and get one of our very strong riders to get up
front so I can keep up with everyone. :-)   The operation went well and everything is all patched up.  I'm up and around on one
crutch and that helps to have a free hand. Now I have to learn to trust that the knee will hold me up so I practice with baby
steps.  I hope it won't be much longer because I am getting a callous on my 'crutch' hand!   I wear my brace all the time and I
think the hardest thing is only being able to sleep on my back!  Mostly I'm doing good but of course I have my bad patches.  Bill
has been awesome -  what a sweet man.  I'm grateful for him and my dear friends who haven't forgotten me.  Take care all of
you.  I should be back about the middle of March.  Happy riding!   love Helen
