July 10 ride

I know this is an old Crazy lady list but since Leane is out of town, and I rode today I thought I'd take a stab at an update.  Vicky, Beth, Sheri and Stephanie met at 7:45 and rode at 8 AM.  Beautiful day!  As the bike path is fine despite the traffic circle construction we headed over the Brydan bridge and down to the bike path on the Clarkston side.  We rode over the Red Wolf bridge and headed west intending to go to Nisqually John or Jim or whoever that is for a 30 mile ride.  Beth got a flat at the pond so I stayed to unsuccessfully help her change her tire.  Crazy Italians, always making bike parts that noone knows how to handle.  Honestly, I think the tire and tube were one and the same, plus she had deep rims... Long story short: Sheri and Stephanie rode to Nisqually which as we know has a bathroom (can't blame them, Stephanie is 8 1/2 months pregnant, bathrooms I assume are important at this point)  I rode back to where I could get cell coverage to call Frank (Beth's partner and the owner of the Italian @$#^* bike with said naughty tire).  By the time I rode back to Beth, Sherri and Stephanie were keeping her company.  I sent S & S on their way as they have kids and some plans for the day.  I walked with Beth towards town until Frank showed up, then rode it in.  All told: 30 miles of biking, plus a little walking mileage.  Beautiful day, low wind, just enough to keep it below 90 degrees.  See what fun you are missing!  Excitement and adventure at every turn!  As far as I know we did not send Stephanie into labor although I told her to hit the bumps if she say any... Next week is the same time and place: 7:45 meet for 8 AM ride at the Southway boat ramp.  Vicky

Dear Board of Trustee's:  Doug and I would like to ask that you forward this email on to your contact lists to help spread the word about our upcoming Winemaker Dinner Series.  Please also let me know if there is a dinner you are interested in attending so we can make sure you are added to the reservation list.  Have a great week!~ Devin

One Night … One Chef … One Winemaker … Infinite Possibilities

Imagine spending an evening with an award-winning winemaker enjoying their wines along with an amazing multi-course gourmet dinner.  In true fashion, the Foundation's 2012 series of vintner dinners are another unique line up of various area executive chefs and talented winemakers creating exclusive vintner dinners for guests to explore and enjoy.

Evening festivities include a multi-course gourmet dinner, each course paired with a perfect partner, a wine that causes attendees to rave.  True masters in the art of pairing wines with tantalizing food, the chef and winemaker for each dinner leads guests through a memorable dining experience with gracious hospitality.

Each winemaker shares their own history, explains how good wine starts in the vines, what to look for in good grapes and how they are nurtured, harvested, and then made into wine.  Learn the art of blending wine and how choosing the right mix of different varietals can change the taste and character of a wine.  Guests also learn what to look for when tasting a wine and how to identify key taste components and aromas.

Dinner guests can expect only the finest of food accompanied with excellent wines and will have the rare opportunity to taste intriguing wines from small producers.  Each intimate vintner dinner is priced at $100 per person with six individuals per table.  Seating is limited to 30 per dinner.  Attached is the listed of scheduled dates, locations and wineries.  Attend one or all!

Limited room is still available at some dinners.  Contact Devin Hill in the Foundation office at (208) 799-5416 for space availability or to inquire about menu and wine pairings.

Proceeds from the Winemaker's Dinners will be designated toward a piece of equipment known as an AngioJet to help assist our new Cardiovascular program.

In the Vintage spirit

Yes it is that time of year again to blow off the winter blues and enjoy a night or two out.  This year's benefit for St. Joseph's Foundation (money goes to Diagnostic Imaging equipment upgrades) the "In the Vintage Spirit benefit is March 12 and 13th.  Friday night is the five tastes of wine, admission ticket is $20 and Centerline has agreed to come back and rock the night out, just for St. Joes.  Saturday night is the more formal wine tasting, jazz quartet and lots of silent and live auction items.  Saturday night tickets are $40 per person.  If you want to go both nights the combo ticket is $50.  If you want to go as a couple on Saturday the couple ticket is $75.  Lots of options.  Saturday night has 12 wineries pouring, including my good friend Rebecca Gunselman of Robert Karl Cellars (pouring their new release of '07 Claret and the '06 Cabernet Sauvignon].  I'll be there both nights since I work the events and I'd love to see you there.  I'm selling tickets, but you can also get them through the Foundation office: 208-799-5416.  Hope that you've had a chance to get out in the good weather and spin the wheels a little bit, I've been out once and have a long way to go to get back up to some decent mileage... Take care, and thanks, Vicky Boubel  243-4424

Hi from Vicky

Attached is the stilton-pear recipe that we had for dessert at the luncheon at Helens on Wednesday.  For those of you who didn't make, it was a good time, good food, good discussion.  Anyone for changing the name from Crazy Ladies to something else? Vicky

Crazy Ladies cancer awareness month

Dear Crazy Ladies, If you do nothing else this month, stop by Gold's Gym, up on Brydan and buy some raffle tickets to benefit breast cancer and a certain Crazy Lady of ours who recently went through the whole breast cancer shennanigans.  I won't name names, but her initials might be JG... I sewed a "lap" quilt, (size 63" x 70") which is on display at Golds, and raffle tickets are $1 apiece or 6 for $5.  What a bargain.  There are also baked goods (nothing says fundraiser like outrageously priced baked goods) all month.  Just stop in before your daily latte for a treat to enjoy with your coffee. The raffle and bake sale will go on all month and the drawing will be held November 1st.  This is for a great cause and our close friend who never denies help changing a flat tire (in less than 2 minutes, I've timed her...)  Thanks for supporting this cause, we hope no other crazies get breast cancer, but if so, we are a great group, and a wonderful support to each other.  Thanks!  Vicky Boubel
PS, Sorry if you get this twice, I'm having Leane forward this email since her email list is more complete than my own.

Fwd: Free 411

I thought you might find the following article from snopes.com interesting: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/nothing/free411.asp

Snopes reports this to be TRUE.

Now here is some info we can all use.

Google 411

Just leave it up to Google to come up with something like this!!!

Here's a number worth putting in your cell phone, or your home phone

speed dial:

1-800-goog411 (1-800-466-4411) This is an awesome service from Google,

and it's free -- great when you are on the road.

Don't waste your money on information calls for business numbers, and

don't waste your time manually dialing the number.

I am driving along in my car and I need to call the golf course and I

don't know the number.  I hit the speed dial for the Google information

number that I programmed into my phone system. The voice at the other

end says, "City &State."  I say, " Garland , Texas "  He says,

"Business Name or Type of Service."  I say, "Firewheel Golf Course."

He says, "Connecting" and Firewheel answers the phone. How great is

that?

This is nationwide and it is absolutely free!

Click on the link below and watch the short clip for a quick

demonstration.
